Adult Education

In addition to Adult Hebrew classes, guest speakers, and a book group, adults have the opportunity to learn with Rabbi Shinder in her Adult Education series. Past classes have been offered on the customs and liturgy of The Festivals and an informal tour through the Prayerbook. Each class begins with students writing questions on index cards (on the curriculum or not!) and after the formal lesson, Rabbi answers the questions.

The 5770 Adult Education cycle will begin with the Fall Semester’s course: The Wonderful World of Yiddish. Our very own Muriel Birnbaum will assist the rabbi with her own perspective on Yiddish music, theatre, and literature as this classic language was Muriel's first. These classes will commence on October 15 and will take place on Thursdays at 7 p.m.

For the Winter Semester, Rabbi Shinder will introduce a new program of Lunch and Learn to take place following each month’s Shabbat Morning Learning Service. This is the first section of the TBS Torah Corps. This mini-semester will allow students to learn a bit about the weekly Torah portion and actually help care for the Torah Scrolls!

The Spring Semester will be a combination of the year’s timeslots of one Thursday night at 7 p.m. and one Shabbat morning at 10:00 a.m.
